Shadow banking

Shadow banking
The shadow banking system is a network of unregulated operators which acts in parallel to the regulated system, from which it receives securities and other receivables, changing their duration, maturity and liquidity. It then returns them in the form of liquidity for new transactions. The shadow banking system is financed through structured derivatives, thus creating liquidity which is in turn invested in long-term assets.
